Even in the midst of the market downturn that has deprived the global crypto market cap of its trillion-dollar status, the overall sentiment of the space remains highly positive and optimistic about what the future holds. Our team just got back from Consensus in Austin and we had an amazing time meeting so many inspirational and intelligent people.
While we are still in the bear market, the world still firmly believes in the importance of building the entire industry, as evident by the various conferences and events organized by enthusiasts across the globe.
Attending cryptocurrency conferences and events is one of the best ways to connect with like minded individuals and learn more about cryptocurrency, blockchain, Defi, NFTs, metaverses and web3.0. Not only are the biggest names attending these conferences but as most of us already know, the real networking happens at the side events. Crypto companies rent out private spaces with open bars, fancy horderves and entertainment to try to build brand awareness and gain investors. At the end of the day, the most successful companies are connecting with their communities with IRL events. Perception is reality. Even though it is a bear market, companies don’t want their investors or community to see it like that.

Some of the Most Anticipated Crypto Events
Although we are half way through 2022, some of the best and biggest conferences of the year will still be held in many different countries. Here is a list of some of the most anticipated ones.
1. Ethereum Community Conference (ETHCC) Paris, France (July 19th – 21st)
The Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC) is often regarded as the largest yearly Ethereum event in Europe that focuses on community and technology. The 2022 edition of the conference will last for three intense days from July 19 to July 21, 2022. Some of the scheduled speakers at ETHCC include Alberto Viera from Moonbeam and Mudit Gupta from Polygon.
Numerous side activities, including organizational panels, meetups, and quality time parties, will take place in Paris within the same week of the conference. This will be the fifth edition of the event, and the week will be filled with in-depth discussions, educational gatherings, and welcome events.
Their belief is that sharing and transmitting knowledge is the most efficient way to develop a positive and fertile ecosystem. For this reason, ETHCC covers many different subjects and addresses different levels of comprehension of blockchain technology, through conferences and workshops.

2. Defi Conference (DEFICON) – Brooklyn, New York (Aug 11th & 12th)
DeFiCon is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the peer-to-peer cryptographic ethos. You may hear from leading protocols, investors, advocates, creators, builders, and more by attending DeFiCon’s ecosystem upcoming conference. Even Hester Peirce, the commissioner of the SEC is scheduled to speak at this event.

Being a charitable event, its emphasis moves from maximizing profit to maximizing the participants’ experience. The upcoming two-day DEFI conference (DEFICON) will take place on August 11 and 12 in Brooklyn, New York, at 599 Johnson Ave.

Devcon is known as the premier Ethereum conference for programmers, researchers, thinkers, and creators. It is recognized as the biggest platform for the Asia Pacific region’s developer ecosystem. They hold Devcon primarily to inform and inspire the community to create and use decentralized systems. Devcon is also a gathering for all types of builders, including programmers, designers, researchers, client implementers, test engineers, infrastructure operators, community organizers, social economists, artists, and more. It also serves as a global family reunion and a source of inspiration for everyone in the industry.
At Devcon, developers, technology managers, and dev-tool providers typically gather to learn, discuss, and debate the most important opportunities and likely future challenges. This is a much more technical conference compared to events such as Bitcoin 2022 in Miami.

All developers who want to produce creative concepts using the Ethereum blockchain are welcome to participate in the ETHLisbon hackathon. If you are not looking to compete, this is still an amazing place to network with some of the best and brightest in our space. They recently postponed the dates of this event since many people want to combine their trip to Lisbon with Web Summit and the Solana Conference.
This conference is incredibly engaging and participatory since it brings together the Ethereum developer community and their teams to compete and create cutting-edge projects utilizing the Ethereum network. All participants must have a current Eventbrite ticket for ETHLisbon in order for their contribution to be taken into consideration, which is one of the rules for participating.
The event will take place in Lisbon from October 28th to October 30th, 2022.
The events will feature bootcamps by activation and hacking on Thursday, October 27. Registration, the opening ceremony, hacking, and the inaugural party are all scheduled on Friday. Only workshops and hacking will be done on the third day. The final day, Sunday includes more hacking, project submission and judging, a closing ceremony, and a closing party.
5. Web Summit – Lisbon, Portugal (November 1st – 4th)
Forbes claimed this to be “The best technology conference on the planet” and there is a reason over 70,000 people will be attending this event. This is not solely focused on crypto or blockchain in general but rather Web 3 and technology as a whole. Some of the 50+ coveted speakers include Sebastien Borget, the co-founder of The Sandbox, Kathleen Breitman, co-founder of Tezos, Vladimir Tenev, co-founder of Robinhood and Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana.
This conference has grown substantially every year since it started in 2016. Google, AWS, Siemens, The New York Times and Microsoft are some of the many companies that will be attending.
The conference will take place at the Altice Arena & FIL in Lisbon, November 1-4, 2022.
Web Summit does a great job combining learning and development with outstanding networking and lead generation opportunities. Topics range from deep tech and data science to sustainability and environment issues. Share ideas with thousands of like minded individuals across the globe and attend some of the many side events around Lisbon throughout the first two weeks in November.
6. Solana Breakpoint – Lisbon, Portugal (November 4th – 7th)
This is the most significant conference ever organized by Solana. All enthusiasts gathered in Lisbon in 2021 for the first time for a worldwide celebration dubbed “breakpoint.” It served as a gathering place for those who were creating the future to work, study, and have fun.
The Solana community is coming together again this year with better speakers, more attendees and increased hype. If you are a Solana bull, then you will love networking with thousands of devs, builders, innovators and investors at this massive gathering. The Solana Hacker Houses are a ton of fun to attend and host some of the biggest brains in the world.
